Who are you?... Are you your body? Or your mind? Or are you something higher? Do you know who you are, or do you merely think you know? And does it really matter?
Our materialistic society, with its unenlightened leadership, has made it virtually taboo to inquire into our real, higher self. Instead we use our valuable time maintaining, decorating, and pampering the body for its own sake. Might there be an alternative?
The many philosophical conclusions Sriman Mahaprabhu has revealed and preached personally and through Svarapa, the Six Gosvamis, and the Gaudiya guru-varga in regard to determining the object of worship (upasya-tattva) are not subjects that people inimical to bhakti can grasp. He has given the Gaudiyas the instruction to give up unfavorable association in all respects.
Similarly, yoga means to connect two persons: one is the Supreme Lord and the other is the unlimited souls. Because we have forgotten that Supreme Lord, we are greatly suffering. Sometimes we suffer as donkeys, asses, dogs, pigs and so on, and sometimes as demigods; we have passed through all the various species of life.
Sri Krishna is so merciful that, by His causeless mercy, He has now given us this human form. This human form is very temporary however; we do not know when we will die. We are all suffering because we think that we are this body.

![🎉🥳 January 2, 2026: VYASA PUJA by Srila Gurudeva, Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Vana Goswami Maharaja 😍
It is the day to offer puṣpāñjalis - sincere offerings of the heart, symbolised by flowers and words - to Śrī Guru, by whose mercy we achieve everything in our spiritual life 🌸💞
And what does the genuine guru expect from his true disciple? 🤍
Śrīla Gurudeva quotes, in almost all his harikathās, Srila Param Gurudeva, Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja, that “guru-niṣṭhā and guru-bhakti are the back bone of our spiritual life” 🕉️📿
And what does that mean, anyway? 🤔✨
If your spine is not strong, you can’t walk and not even sit properly. Likewise, without loyalty to the Guru and devotion to him, our spiritual life is useless.
In fact, a genuine Guru is devoid of desire for fame or worship, and he redirects all the respect and fame given to him by his disciples to his own Guru, who does the same in relation to his Guru and so on - so is the Guru-parampara (disciple succession).
First, a sadhaka must surrender completely to the Guru and have him as his Worshipable Deity, seeing him as “saksat hari”, a direct manifestation of the Supreme Lord, and being His very dear servant. Hari-Bhakti-Vilasa declares:
prathamaṃ tu guruṃ pūjya tataś caiva mamārcanam |
kurvan siddhim avāpnoti hy anyathā niṣphalaṃ bhavet ||
[Krishna says:] First, one must worship the Guru and then only Me. This process grants all the perfections. Otherwise, there will be no fruit.
May in this auspicious Vyasa Puja, Srila Gurudeva bless us with this very important one-pointed loyalty and devotion to his lotus feet, in this way we will be able to obtain the jewels of the transcendental moods of divine love present in his heart.
Jay Srila Gurudeva ki jay 💗😌🙏](https://scontent-iad3-1.cdninstagram.com/v/t51.82787-15/610536321_18517677967067949_3749987754074705986_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_tt6&_nc_cat=104&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=18de74&efg=eyJlZmdfdGFnIjoiRkVFRC5iZXN0X2ltYWdlX3VybGdlbi5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=22aUn10AmO4Q7kNvwGLh26w&_nc_oc=AdlsS9-iBaIeu842bg_ZSz9z9R5Efn0Eu4AUlWIIB2Puhxn5XRe0gIC2Fiecu-ER3Ag&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-1.cdninstagram.com&edm=ANo9K5cEAAAA&_nc_gid=MWA8wFdS0eI9iPxfVXUAYA&oh=00_AfpQ4Ygz9s376ysOxYqIG58wHk3IQJcoyeh80XX2Pp7O8A&oe=696D99CC)

![✨️.."I went to Gurudeva’s room to offer my obeisances, and as I was just getting up, Gurudeva enquired, “Are you going abroad to preach or not?” I replied, “Yes Gurudeva, I have a ticket to go to America.” I held Gurudeva’s feet tightly and said, “Gurudeva! This time I do not wish to go for prachara, because I desire the close association of your lotus feet.”
Gurudeva put his hands on my head and replied, “Look, listen to the words of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada — ‘prana aache jethu, sethu prachara’ – preaching is the life of our Gaudiya Vaishnavas.”
With his very sweet, gentle smile and his pacifying words, he blessed me and said, “Look, you should go and return very quickly, and I will meet you in Navadvipa.” He continued, “I will get well very soon, and I will surely meet you in Navadvipa parikrama at Sri Sri Keshavaji Matha. You should now go.” In this way, Gurudeva gave his blessings.
Having faith in the words of Srila Gurudeva, I left for America and I remember when I was in Houston, whilst speaking about Srila Gurudeva on the morning of the 29th December, unknowingly I had an inauspicious feeling and my mind was restless. Later, I was flying from Miami to Rio de Janeiro, and I had a strange feeling. However, I boarded the plane. Thereafter, when I landed in Brazil, I heard the news of Srila Gurudeva’s disappearance. It was heartbreaking.
I was thinking of Gurudeva from afar, as I could not be present at the time of his samadhi, which was held soon after. I continuously kept thinking of his last words, “I will meet you in Navadvipa.”

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura also sang beautifully about their service, describing how these sakhis assist in the sweet pastimes of Radha and Krishna."
